Quotes more thoughtful than platitudes make fl.ouri.sh a relaxing no brainer

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, and an app is just an app. I was so stressed out from my attempted Yoga workout on Tuesday that I didn’t want to to even think about any new apps for a day or so. I am still in search of relaxation, and the spa where I like to get pampered and manicured is closed until mid-January. (The French really know how to take a loooooong vacation.) I’ve got a lot of work on my plate at the moment, so when I did get back to my phone today, I trawled around a bit in it, to find what other relaxation-oriented apps I had.

I don’t remember when or why I downloaded fl.ouri.sh, but honestly, the only reason I opened it today was the quiet simplicity of the logo. And the name, because at the moment I do feel a bit like a plant in need of water.

The app won’t change your life, but it’s good for a doctor’s waiting room or when you’re a bit too early for that flight/train/bus/whatever. It’s pretty. It’s relaxing. And it’s full of brainy quotes and tidbits, all from the Character Strengths and Virtues, written by psychologists Christopher Peterson and Martin Seligman. I need virtue, yes, and I need strength. And I like the idea of having a pocket therapist. So I think I’ll keep the app in my phone for a while, but I’m also buying the book.
