Mr Mood will tell you if it’s time to reinvent yourself

The best system I ever encountered in my life was the one where I’d get a slip of paper with a smiley face or a frowny face (or something in between) on it when I picked up my preschool son from day care. This let me know whether he’d had a good day or not. That simple image provided critical information to a single mom dealing with mid-terms and car trouble. Too many frowny days in a row and alarm bells went off.

Mr Mood is a gorgeous and simple little app inspired by a Steve Jobs quote taken from his Stanford Commencement address in 2005:

‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been “No” for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.

The app will help you see if you’re having too many frowny days so you can ask yourself if maybe it’s time for a change. If you’re in good shape, there’s nothing to say you couldn’t use the app to track the moods of a little person or elderly person in your care. Or your dog. In fact, it would be nice if Mr Mood added the ability to track multiple people’s moods. And faces for massive anxiety attacks and rage.

Swipe your finger up or down to get happier or sadder faces. If you want to add a comment, click the + sign at the lower left of the screen. Swipe right to see your days lined up side by side. If there’s a comment on your mood, your smiley has a bow tie. Tap it to see your comment. Swipe right again to set a reminder so you can pop in and record your mood every day.

I recommend you avoid setting your reminder for that time of the afternoon when you’re hating life because it’s still two hours before you get off work.
